Methods

Blue Hill Counseling is all about helping you find healing and hope in your most difficult seasons. We use a variety of evidence-based techniques, all designed to suit the individual needs of the clients.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: There is a difficult thought behind every difficult feeling. CBT helps us to notice our troublesome thoughts and examine how they influence our feelings and behaviors. Having gained this insight, we can make lasting changes in our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. 

Acceptance Commitment Therapy: ACT enables you to accept difficult emotions and move towards actions that brings value and enrichment to your life.  

Solution Focused Brief Therapy: SFBT allows you to explore your own history of resilience to find solutions to your present problems. 

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing: EMDR is a technique that helps to reduce feelings of distress resulting from physical or emotional trauma.  Learn more about this unique mode here. 

Play and Sandtray: Play can ease children into the therapeutic process with comfort. It allows children to tell stories and process feelings in their own language. 

Person Centered: Person-centered therapy focuses on providing you with a safe, non-judgmental space, while also incorporating various interventions uniquely tailored to your individual needs in order to promote client success.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Sensorimotor pyschotherapy invites healing by mindfully exploring the felt sense. This allows the client to explore inner sensations, emotions, thoughts, and feelings related to their trauma while developing inner resources.
